Contrary to popular belief, stories don&#8217;t have beginnings, just starts. In fact, no matter where you start a story, it isn&#8217;t the beginning.<br />
Starting a story is like drawing a line in the sand: no matter where you draw the line, there is still sand on both sides of it. Likewise, no matter where a story starts, there are always things that preceded it that are relevant to the story, if only for the influence those events have had on shaping the story&#8217;s characters.<br />
But since a story has to start somewhere, here is where this story starts.<br />
This is a story about a girl. This is a story about influences. And this is a story about beginnings, whatever they are.</p>
